Gliders

The main reasons gliders come into care is as a result to a cat or dog attack, or after being caught on barbed wire fences.

Gliders caught on barbed wire fences first need to be covered with a light towel or newspaper (as to remove the stress of visual stimuli) until experienced handlers arrive for the rescue. Gliders with damaged membranes are still viable animals.

If you find an injured/sick glider on the ground, use thick gloves and cover the glider with a light towel, contain the animal in a box, and transport the animal to the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital, RSPCA or a local vet.
