Koalas May Need a Health Check

Signs of sickness or injury –

· Staying on the ground or low in a tree

· Eyes are looking sore (conjunctivitis)

· Brown staining on bottom (cystitis)

· Unusual behaviour

Contact Rachel Aspinall (0407 881 008) for any health checks. I work closely with a range of specialised koala personnel and can usually respond quickly on Sunshine Coast Hinterland.

We like to track the location of all koalas killed and if found shortly after death, the koala can be taken to wildlife hospital where much needed pap can be retrieved from the caecum to help with the survival of other sick/orphaned koalas.

Koalas that have been in a wildlife hospital previously may have an ear tag and microchip. The information will help with the research into koalas.

Koalas need specialist handlers; please do not attempt to rescue an adult koala as their claws are VERY sharp.
